I don't mean to make my DA into a blog, but unfortunately right now it's a few journals before any of my deviations will come along.

The first three of my submissions will be poetry since I am right now mostly a poet. However, I have taken up a passion for drawing due to a spark that has lit inside of me, of which I will either discuss in a later journal or be implied through what I submit. Anyway, this is my first time that I am seriously setting my heart upon improving my drawing skills. I have casually sketched and taken one or two art classes in the past, but now this has become a passion that will not go away.

Before I started, I had some concerns about how far I will get. Do I need some sort of innate trait in order to become "great." What I mean by "great" is not just being able to draw quickly what I see but also visualize a scene in my mind and being able to make it come to life on paper. And so, my main concerns are:

1. Do I have to be more of a "right-brain" person? The right brain is the creative side. I see
myself as mostly a left-brain person.

2. I am right-handed. I've heard many artists are left-handed and that makes sense since the
right brain controls the left hand and at the same time deals with the spatial tasks that are
used heavily in drawing.

But after talking to some artists, I have found out that what is more important is practice, practice, practice, and with practice, the right brain will develop as needed. So, that clears number 1. As for the second concern, I've resolved to start some special training for myself. As weird as it may sound, I am training my left hand to be just as good as my right hand. At the same time, I will keep practicing drawing with my right hand. Though all this is will be what I will do in my free time, my goal is set and I'm going to do whatever it takes to get there.
